Car
If you are traveling by car, start your journey from Shillong, the capital of Meghalaya. Take the NH6 highway towards Jowai. After approximately 60 kilometers, you will reach the town of Jowai. From Jowai, follow the directional signs towards Tyrshi Waterfall. The waterfall is located approximately 15 kilometers from Jowai city center. The final stretch includes a scenic route that may require you to navigate through rural roads, so keep an eye out for local signage. Parking is available near the waterfall.
Public Transportation
To reach Tyrshi Waterfall using public transportation, take a bus from Shillong to Jowai. Buses leave regularly from the Shillong bus station and the journey takes about 2 to 3 hours, costing around INR 100-150. Upon reaching Jowai, you can hire a local taxi or auto-rickshaw to take you to Tyrshi Waterfall, which is approximately 15 kilometers away. The taxi fare may range from INR 300 to 500 depending on negotiation and time of day.
Walking
If you are already in Jowai and prefer to walk to Tyrshi Waterfall, you can take a scenic trekking route. Start from the town center and head towards the village of Tyrshi. The distance is about 15 kilometers, and it may take approximately 4-5 hours. Ensure you are wearing comfortable walking shoes and carry water, as the trek can be challenging and hilly in parts.
