Getting There

    Start from the Police Bazar area in Shillong, which is a central hub for tourists. Head east on GS Road towards the All India Radio building. Continue straight until you reach the intersection with the Shillong Club on your left. From there, take a right turn onto the road leading to the Upper Shillong area. Keep walking straight, passing by the Rilbong area, ensuring you stay on the main road. After about 3 kilometers, you will reach the junction known as Mawprem. Here, take the left turn towards the Motinagar area. Continue walking for another 2 kilometers, and you will eventually arrive at Motinagar Falls. Look out for local signboards indicating the falls.

  • Public Transport (Bus)

    From Police Bazar, board a local bus heading towards Upper Shillong. Make sure to ask the conductor to drop you off at the Motinagar stop. The bus ride will take approximately 30-40 minutes, depending on traffic. Once you get off, you will need to walk about 1 kilometer downhill towards the falls. Follow the dirt path and look for signs directing you to Motinagar Falls.

  • Trekking

    For the adventurous, you can trek from the Shillong Peak area. Start at the Shillong Peak viewpoint and take the trail leading down towards Motinagar. The trek is about 5 kilometers and will take around 1.5 to 2 hours. Follow the marked trails and enjoy the lush greenery along the way.
