Getting There

• Walking

  From the center of Shillong, head towards Police Bazaar. You can start at the famous Shillong Clock Tower. Walk downhill towards the main market area. Once you reach Police Bazaar, ask locals for the direction toward Nongjrong. It’s about a 15-minute walk from here. Follow the main road (GS Road) towards the direction of the East Khasi Hills. After approximately 1.5 kilometers, you should see signs directing you toward the Nongjrong viewpoint. The path will lead you through a mix of urban and rural scenery. You may need to take a right turn onto a narrower road. Continue following the signs and local directions until you reach the viewpoint, which is perched on a hill offering stunning views.

• Public Transport

  From your location in Shillong, walk to the nearest bus station, which is usually located at Police Bazaar. Look for local buses or shared taxis that head towards Nongjrong. Confirm with the driver that they will drop you off at or near the Nongjrong viewpoint. The ride may take about 30-40 minutes depending on traffic. Once you get off, you may need to walk a short distance (about 10 minutes) to reach the viewpoint, following any signage or asking locals for directions along the way.

• Bicycle

  If you prefer cycling, rent a bicycle from one of the local shops in Shillong. Start from the Shillong Clock Tower and ride towards Police Bazaar, then continue on GS Road. The route to Nongjrong is relatively straightforward, and it is about 5 kilometers away from the city center. You will encounter some uphill stretches, so be prepared for a bit of a workout. Once you reach the area close to the viewpoint, follow the signs or ask locals for the exact location. Enjoy the scenic ride through the hills!
