Car
If you are driving from the nearest major city, Kolkata, take the NH12 (formerly known as NH35) heading south towards Canning. After about 50 kilometers, follow the signs to Gosaba. Once you reach Gosaba, continue to follow the signs directing you towards Dayapur. The park entrance is located in Dayapur, Gosaba, West Bengal 743370. Make sure to have cash on hand for any tolls along the route.
Public Bus
From Kolkata, you can take a bus from the Esplanade bus terminal to Canning. The journey takes about 2-3 hours. Once you get to Canning, you can catch a local bus or an auto-rickshaw to Gosaba. Upon reaching Gosaba, you can either walk or take a rickshaw to Dayapur, where Sunderbans National Park is located. Bus fares from Kolkata to Canning typically range from INR 50 to INR 100.
Ferry
An alternative route is to take a ferry from Kolkata to Sundarbans. You can board a ferry from the ferry ghats in Kolkata, such as the Howrah Ferry Ghat or the Millennium Park Ferry Ghat. The ferry journey can take anywhere from 5 to 7 hours depending on the service. Once you arrive at the Sundarbans, you will need to arrange for a local boat or vehicle to reach Dayapur. Expect to pay between INR 300 to INR 800 for the ferry, depending on the operator and class.
Auto-rickshaw
Once in Gosaba, auto-rickshaws are a convenient way to reach Dayapur. Simply ask the driver for Sunderbans National Park, and they will know the way. The distance from Gosaba to Dayapur is approximately 5 kilometers and should cost around INR 50 to INR 100.
