Getting There

• Car

  If you are driving to the Thar Desert from Jaisalmer city (approximately 40 km away), take NH62 heading west. Follow the signs to Kanoi. Once you reach Kanoi village, you will see signs for desert safari operators. Park your car at a designated parking area and hire a local jeep or camel ride to explore the desert further.

• Public Transportation

  From Jaisalmer, take a local bus heading towards Kanoi, which runs frequently throughout the day. The journey takes about 1 hour and costs around INR 50-100. Once you arrive in Kanoi, you can either walk to the desert area or hire a local auto-rickshaw for approximately INR 200 to take you to the desert entrance.

• Camel Ride

  For a more immersive experience, consider booking a camel ride tour in Kanoi. Many local operators offer camel safaris that include transportation from your accommodation to the desert. Prices vary based on the duration of the ride and can range from INR 1,500 to INR 5,000 per person depending on the package.

• Jeep Safari

  If you prefer a faster option, book a jeep safari from Jaisalmer or Kanoi. Most tours include pick-up from your hotel. Prices start at approximately INR 2,000 per person for a half-day tour, which usually covers popular dune areas and provides an opportunity for sunset viewing.
