Kasba Kali Bari, or Kamalasagar Kali Temple, is a significant religious site in Tripura, India, drawing devotees and tourists alike with its spiritual ambiance and scenic beauty. Situated in Kamalasagar, West Tripura, the temple lies close to the international border with Bangladesh, offering a unique cultural and geographical experience.The temple was constructed in the late 15th century by Maharaja Dhanya Manikya of the Manikya Dynasty. While the initial work was started by Maharaja Kaliyan Manikya, it was Dhanya Manikya who completed the temple. The temple is dedicated to Goddess Kali, a powerful and fierce representation of the divine feminine in Hinduism. Interestingly, the deity installed is of Goddess Durga, but is worshipped as Kali due to the base platform having an image of Shiva.A prominent feature of the temple complex is the Kamalasagar lake, a large water body dug by Maharaja Dhanya Manikya and named after his wife, Kamaladevi. The lake enhances the temple's beauty, creating a tranquil and reflective foreground. The temple's location on a hilltop provides panoramic views of the surrounding landscape, further adding to its charm.Kasba Kali Bari is not only a religious center but also a place of historical importance. The area, originally known as Kamalagarh or Koilagarh, was secured by Maharaja Kalyan Manikya after defeating the ruler of Bengal. A township developed around the fort, eventually leading to the name Kasba, a Persian word meaning town. Today, the temple attracts numerous visitors, especially during the annual fair in April, where devotees gather to offer prayers. The Indo-Bangla Border Hut nearby is an additional attraction for visitors.
