Getting There

• Car

  To travel from Valley of Flowers National Park to Gangotri National Park by car, start by heading south towards the nearest major town, Joshimath. From Joshimath, take NH 7 towards Rishikesh. After approximately 100 kilometers, you will reach Rishikesh. Here, you can refuel and grab a meal if needed. Continue on NH 7, which will lead you towards Uttarkashi. Once in Uttarkashi, follow the signs for Gangotri, which is about 100 kilometers from Uttarkashi. The roads can be steep and narrow, so drive cautiously. Expect to spend around 6-8 hours on the road, depending on traffic and road conditions.

  To reach Gangotri National Park from Valley of Flowers using public transportation, first find a local bus service from Govindghat to Joshimath. Buses run frequently, and the fare is usually around ₹50-₹100. Once in Joshimath, catch a bus to Rishikesh, which will cost you approximately ₹200-₹300. After reaching Rishikesh, look for a bus heading towards Uttarkashi; the fare will typically be around ₹150-₹250. Finally, from Uttarkashi, you can take another local bus or shared taxi to reach Gangotri, which costs about ₹300-₹500. Overall, expect the entire journey to take around 10-12 hours, including waiting times.

  If you prefer a more direct route and comfort, hiring a taxi is an option. From Valley of Flowers National Park, arrange for a local taxi to take you directly to Gangotri National Park. This will be more expensive, ranging from ₹3000 to ₹5000 depending on the type of vehicle and negotiation. The journey will take approximately 8-10 hours. Ensure you confirm the fare before starting your trip.
