If you are traveling by car, start your journey from Kolkata (approximately 25 km away). Take the Barrackpore Trunk Road (BT Road) towards Barrackpore. Follow the signs for Barrackpur Cantonment. Once you reach Barrackpore, turn onto Cantonment Road. Continue straight until you reach Gandhi Ghat, which will be on your right. There is parking available nearby, but it may incur a small fee (around ₹20-₹50).
Train
For those preferring public transportation, take a local train from Kolkata to Barrackpore Station. The journey takes about 30-40 minutes. Once you arrive at Barrackpore Station, exit the station and take an auto-rickshaw or cycle-rickshaw to Gandhi Ghat, which is approximately 3 km away. The auto-rickshaw fare will be around ₹30-₹50.
Bus
You can also take a bus from Kolkata to Barrackpore. Buses are available from various terminals in Kolkata, such as Esplanade or Howrah. Look for buses heading towards Barrackpore or Barrackpur. Once in Barrackpore, you can either walk (about 2 km) or take an auto-rickshaw to reach Gandhi Ghat. The bus fare will typically be around ₹20-₹30, and the auto-rickshaw fare will be an additional ₹30-₹50.
Cycle-Rickshaw
If you're already in the Barrackpore area, you can hire a cycle-rickshaw from nearby locations. This traditional mode of transport is an eco-friendly way to reach Gandhi Ghat. The fare for a cycle-rickshaw ride will vary but expect to pay around ₹20-₹40 depending on the distance.
