Start your journey from downtown Elkhart. Head east on E Jackson Blvd towards S Main St. Turn right onto S Main St and then continue straight for about 1.5 miles. When you reach the intersection with E Beardsley Ave, turn left. After approximately 0.5 miles, turn right onto Co Rd 3. Continue straight on Co Rd 3 for about 1 mile, and you will find Boot Lake Nature Preserve on your right at 51430 Co Rd 3.

Begin at the Elkhart Public Library located at 300 S 2nd St. Head south on S 2nd St towards E Jackson Blvd. Turn left on E Jackson Blvd and walk for about 1.5 miles. Once you reach S Main St, turn right and continue walking straight. After about 0.5 miles, turn left onto E Beardsley Ave. Walk for another half-mile and then turn right onto Co Rd 3. Boot Lake Nature Preserve will be approximately 1 mile down the road on your right at 51430 Co Rd 3.

From the Elkhart Transit Center, take the Route 5 bus towards the Elkhart General Hospital. Get off at the stop near the intersection of S Main St and E Beardsley Ave. From there, transfer to a bicycle rental service or continue on foot. Head east on E Beardsley Ave until you reach Co Rd 3. Turn right onto Co Rd 3 and continue for about 1 mile to reach Boot Lake Nature Preserve at 51430 Co Rd 3.
