Getting There

• Public Transit - Bus

  If you're in downtown Indianapolis, find the nearest bus stop with the IndyGo system. You can take Bus Route 8 (Washington Street) which directly services the area near the Indiana State Museum. Board the bus heading west and get off at the stop on Washington Street. The museum entrance is just a short walk from the bus stop.

• Public Transit - Light Rail

  Currently, there is no light rail system that directly reaches the Indiana State Museum from other parts of the city. However, if you are near the Indianapolis Cultural Trail, you can walk towards the museum. The museum is located at 650 W Washington St, which is easily accessible via a pleasant walk from the trail.

• Walking

  If you're staying in downtown Indianapolis, the Indiana State Museum is within walking distance. Head west on Washington Street from the center of downtown (Monument Circle). Continue walking until you reach 650 W Washington St. The museum will be on your left. This route is also scenic, as you'll pass several parks and the beautiful canal walk.

• Bicycle

  You can rent a bicycle from one of the many bike-share stations throughout downtown Indianapolis. Head towards the Indianapolis Cultural Trail and follow the trail west. Continue on the trail until you reach Washington Street. Turn left and continue to the museum located at 650 W Washington St. There are bike racks available at the museum for parking.
