If you are traveling by car from the Patoka Lake area, start by heading northeast on IN-164 E. Continue on IN-164 E for approximately 15 miles until you reach the intersection with IN-66. Turn left onto IN-66 N and continue for about 8 miles. Next, take a right onto National Forest Rd. Follow National Forest Rd for about 3 miles, and you will arrive at Hemlock Cliffs. There is no entry fee, but parking may be limited, so arrive early.
Public Transportation
If you are using public transportation, your best option is to take a bus from the nearest town to Patoka Lake to the city of English, IN. From English, you can either use a taxi service or rideshare app to reach Hemlock Cliffs. The distance from English to Hemlock Cliffs is approximately 15 miles, and taxi fares can vary, so check local rates.
Bicycle
For the adventurous, biking is a great way to explore the area. From Patoka Lake, take the same route as the car directions on IN-164 E and IN-66 N. Ensure your bike is in good working condition, as some parts of National Forest Rd may be unpaved. This route is about 26 miles and may take approximately 2 hours, depending on your biking speed.
Hiking
For seasoned hikers, if you are already near the trailhead of Hemlock Cliffs, you can hike to the cliffs directly. Just ensure you have a good map of the area, as trails may not be marked clearly.
