Getting There

Car
If you're traveling by car, head towards the city of Kutacane in Southeast Aceh. From Banda Aceh, take the Jalan Medan-Banda Aceh highway (Route 1) heading north. After around 5 hours of driving, you will reach Kutacane. From Kutacane, continue south on the Jalan Lintas Sumatra road for about 30 minutes until you reach Ketambe. Look for signs indicating 'Ketambe' as you approach. The trekking location is easily accessible from the main road.

Public Transportation (Bus)
For those using public transport, you can take a bus from Banda Aceh to Kutacane. Buses leave regularly from the central bus terminal in Banda Aceh. The journey will take approximately 7 to 8 hours and may cost around IDR 150,000 to IDR 200,000. Once in Kutacane, you can find a local minibus or a shared taxi (angkot) that travels to Ketambe. This should cost about IDR 20,000 to IDR 30,000. Make sure to confirm with the driver that they will drop you off at Ketambe.

Motorbike Rental
If you prefer a more adventurous route, consider renting a motorbike in either Banda Aceh or Kutacane. The rental cost is typically around IDR 100,000 per day. Follow the same route as mentioned for cars, taking the Jalan Lintas Sumatra road to Ketambe. Ensure you have a valid driver's license and wear a helmet as it's required by law.
