Getting There

• Car Rental

  If you are renting a car in Borobudur, start by heading southeast on Jalan Borobudur towards Jalan Giritengah. Continue on Jalan Borobudur for about 3 kilometers. Turn left onto Jalan Giritengah and follow the road for approximately 2 kilometers until you reach the intersection. Turn right onto Jalan Kamal and follow the signs for Punthuk Gupakan. You will arrive at the destination at coordinates 959R+M23. Parking is available near the site, but be prepared for a short walk.

• Public Transportation

  For those using public transportation, you can catch a local bus from Borobudur to Magelang. Buses frequently depart from the main bus terminal in Borobudur. After arriving in Magelang, take a local minivan (angkot) heading towards Giritengah. Inform the driver that you are heading to Punthuk Gupakan; they will drop you off at the nearest point. The total cost for the bus is approximately IDR 10,000, and the angkot will cost around IDR 5,000. From where the angkot drops you off, it is a short walk to the Punthuk Gupakan viewpoint.

• Walking

  If you prefer to walk and are staying in a nearby accommodation, you can take a scenic route from the Borobudur Temple area. Head southeast on Jalan Borobudur, then turn onto Jalan Giritengah. Follow this road for about 3 kilometers. Be mindful of traffic as you navigate through the area. The walk will take approximately 45 minutes to 1 hour. Ensure you have comfortable walking shoes and stay hydrated.
