Walking
From the center of Bukit Lawang, head towards Jalan Orangutan, which takes you along the riverbank. Follow the signs leading to the entrance of the Gunung Leuser National Park. This walk should take about 15-20 minutes. As you get closer, you’ll notice a small path branching off to the right. Take this path and continue walking for another 10 minutes until you reach the Landak River. Look for the signs that indicate the river's entrance.
Motorbike Taxi (Ojek)
If you prefer a quicker route, you can hire a motorbike taxi (ojek) from Bukit Lawang. You can find ojek drivers near the main road. Negotiate the fare beforehand; it typically costs around 20,000 IDR (about $1.40) for a one-way trip. The drive to Landak River takes approximately 10 minutes. Ask the driver to drop you off at the designated entrance to the river.
Private Car
For those who have rented a car, head south on Jalan Orangutan from Bukit Lawang. Follow the road signs towards Gunung Leuser National Park. After about 5 kilometers, you will see a small parking area on your right. Park your car here and continue on foot along the designated path leading to Landak River, which is about a 15-minute walk from the parking area.
Public Transportation (Bus)
While there is no direct bus to Landak River, you can take a bus from Bukit Lawang to nearby Bohorok. Buses leave regularly from the main bus terminal. The fare is around 5,000 IDR (about $0.35). Once in Bohorok, you can either take an ojek or walk about 30 minutes to reach Landak River. Look for signs indicating the path to the river.
