Car
From Palu, the capital of Central Sulawesi, drive south on Jalan Trans Sulawesi (National Road 1) for approximately 70 kilometers until you reach the town of Donggala. In Donggala, continue following the signs towards Sindue Tobata. After about 30 kilometers, you will arrive in the village of Sipeso. Look for local signs indicating the direction to Bulu Wese, as the road may become less formal. The drive typically takes around 2-3 hours depending on traffic and road conditions. Make sure to fuel up in Donggala, as there may not be many options for refueling near Bulu Wese.
Public Transportation
From Palu, head to the main bus terminal (Terminal Donggala) and catch a bus heading towards Donggala. Buses run frequently and the fare is usually quite affordable, around IDR 20,000 to IDR 30,000. Once you arrive in Donggala, you can hire a local transport (ojek) or a small pickup truck (angkot) to take you to Sipeso. The cost for this leg of the journey should be around IDR 50,000 to IDR 100,000, depending on negotiation. In Sipeso, ask locals for directions to Bulu Wese, as the road may not be well-marked.
Local Guide
Once in Sipeso, it is highly recommended to hire a local guide who knows the trails to Bulu Wese. This can be arranged through your accommodation or local tourism offices. The cost for a guide can vary, but expect to pay around IDR 200,000 to IDR 500,000 for a day, depending on the extent of the hike and the services offered.
