Public Bus
From Manado city center, head to the Terminal Paal Dua bus terminal. Look for buses heading towards 'Pineleng' or 'Tomohon'. The fare is quite affordable, usually around 10,000-15,000 IDR. Inform the driver that you want to get off at the Pineleng area, close to Makatete Hills. The journey will take approximately 30-45 minutes depending on traffic. Once you reach the Pineleng area, ask locals for the direction to Makatete Hills, as it is a well-known tourist spot.
Motorcycle Taxi (Ojek)
While in the city center, you can use a motorcycle taxi service like Gojek or Grab. Open the app, set your pickup location, and enter 'Makatete Hills' as your destination. The drivers are familiar with the area and can take you directly to Makatete Hills. The ride will take about 30 minutes, depending on traffic, and costs around 25,000-40,000 IDR.
Walking from Pineleng
If you prefer to walk from the Pineleng area, after arriving, head towards the Makatete Hills by following the main road. It’s approximately a 2 km walk. Keep an eye out for signs pointing towards Makatete Hills, and ask locals for directions if needed. It should take you around 30-40 minutes on foot.
