If you are starting your journey from Tarakan, drive south on Jalan Cendrawasih for about 15 km until you reach the intersection. Turn left onto Jalan S. Parman and continue for approximately 85 km until you reach the town of Tanjung Selor. From Tanjung Selor, take the ferry from the Tanjung Selor port to the island of Borneo. The ferry ride takes about 1-2 hours, and tickets typically cost around IDR 50,000 to IDR 100,000 depending on the type of ferry. Ensure to check the ferry schedule in advance as it can vary.
Public Transportation (Bus)
From the main bus terminal in Tarakan, take a bus heading to Tanjung Selor. The bus ride will take approximately 3-4 hours and costs around IDR 70,000. Once you arrive at the Tanjung Selor bus terminal, you will need to take a short taxi ride to the ferry terminal, which costs about IDR 20,000. After reaching the ferry terminal, purchase your ferry ticket to Borneo and board the ferry for a scenic ride across the water.
Motorcycle Taxi (Ojek)
If you prefer a quicker option from Tarakan to Tanjung Selor, you can hire a motorcycle taxi (ojek). Negotiate the price beforehand; it typically costs around IDR 150,000 to IDR 200,000 for the journey. Once you reach Tanjung Selor, you will still need to take the ferry to Borneo. Ensure to check the ferry schedule to minimize waiting times.
