Car
If you're traveling by car from Manado, take the Trans Sulawesi Highway (Jalan Raya Trans Sulawesi) towards Tomohon. The drive is approximately 45 minutes (around 25 km). Once you reach Tomohon, follow the signs to Kakaskasen Satu. After entering the Kakaskasen area, continue straight until you reach the entrance to Mount Mahawu. There may be signs directing you to the entrance. Parking is available near the entrance.
Public Transportation
To reach Mount Mahawu using public transportation, start at the Manado bus terminal. Look for a minibus (angkot) heading to Tomohon. The fare is approximately IDR 20,000 to IDR 30,000 per person. The journey will take around 1 hour. Once you arrive at Tomohon, you can take another angkot to Kakaskasen Satu. Ensure you inform the driver of your destination; the fare will be around IDR 10,000. After reaching Kakaskasen, follow the signs to Mount Mahawu. You may need to walk for about 1-2 km, depending on the drop-off point.
Taxi or Ride-Hailing Service
For a more convenient option, consider using a taxi or a ride-hailing service like Grab. Simply input 'Mount Mahawu' or 'Kakaskasen Satu' as your destination. A taxi ride from Manado to Mount Mahawu should cost around IDR 200,000 to IDR 300,000, and the journey will take about 45 minutes. This option provides door-to-door service, but confirm the fare beforehand.
