By Car
If you are traveling by car, start your journey from Medan, the capital of North Sumatra. Take Jalan Lintas Sumatera heading southeast towards Pematang Siantar. Continue for approximately 90 kilometers (about 2 hours) until you reach the town of Pematang Sidamanik. From the center of Pematang Sidamanik, follow local signs to Bukit Sipolha, which is located in the Sipolha Horison area. The final stretch will be on smaller roads, and you should look for the PVM5+XP3 marker as you approach the site. Make sure to have a map or GPS ready as local road signs may not be clear.
Public Transportation (Bus)
To reach Bukit Sipolha using public transportation, start at the Medan bus terminal. Board a bus heading to Pematang Siantar, which is a common route with multiple departures daily. The bus ride takes about 2 to 3 hours, depending on traffic. Once in Pematang Siantar, you can take a local minibus or a motorcycle taxi (ojek) to Pematang Sidamanik. Ask the driver for Bukit Sipolha or the PVM5+XP3 area. The local transportation costs will vary, but expect to pay around IDR 10,000 to IDR 20,000 for the bus and about IDR 15,000 to IDR 30,000 for the local transport.
Motorcycle Taxi (Ojek)
If you prefer a more direct route and are comfortable with two-wheeled transport, you can hire a motorcycle taxi (ojek) from Pematang Siantar directly to Bukit Sipolha. This option is quicker and allows for more flexibility. You can use ride-hailing apps like Gojek or Grab if they operate in the area. The cost for this ride should be approximately IDR 30,000 to IDR 50,000, depending on the distance and negotiation.
Use Bukit Sipolha as your starting point for nearby food, family ideas, nightlife, and more local discoveries.
