Getting There

Car
If you are driving, start from the main port area of Pulau Derawan. Head south on the main road towards Tanjung Batu. After approximately 30 minutes of driving, you will reach the junction at Jl. Poros Bohe Silian. Turn left onto this road. Continue for about 15 minutes until you see signs for Danau Haji Buang. The lake will be on your right. Make sure to check your fuel levels as there are limited gas stations on the way.

Public Transportation (Minibus)
From the main port of Pulau Derawan, take a minibus heading towards Tanjung Batu. The fare is usually around IDR 20,000. After about 30 minutes, get off at the Tanjung Batu market. From there, you need to take a local ojek (motorbike taxi) to Danau Haji Buang. The ojek ride will cost approximately IDR 15,000 and will take another 15 minutes. Make sure to negotiate the fare before starting the ride.

For the adventurous, you can rent a bicycle from your accommodation in Pulau Derawan. Start from the main port area and cycle south towards Tanjung Batu. The journey will take about 1 to 1.5 hours, depending on your pace. Once you reach the junction at Jl. Poros Bohe Silian, turn left and continue for another 15 minutes until you arrive at Danau Haji Buang. Ensure you have adequate water and snacks as there are limited stops along the way.
