Car
If you're traveling by car, start by heading towards Gowa Regency. From Makassar, take the Jl. Poros Malino road heading southeast. Follow the signs for Malino and continue on this road for about 1.5 hours. As you approach Malino, watch for signs directing you to the Takapala Waterfall. You'll need to turn onto a smaller road that leads you to the waterfall. The last 10 kilometers may be on a bumpy road, so drive carefully. Park your vehicle at the designated parking area near the waterfall entrance.

To reach Takapala Waterfall via public transportation from Makassar, take a minibus or a bus heading to Malino. These buses leave from the Malengkeri terminal in Makassar. The ride will take approximately 2 hours. Once you arrive in Malino, you can hire a local ojeg (motorcycle taxi) to take you the remaining distance to the waterfall. The ojeg ride will cost around 20,000 - 30,000 IDR. Be sure to negotiate the price before getting on. The last part of the journey will be on a smaller road, so prepare for a bumpy ride.
