Getting There

• Car

  If you are driving from Makassar, take the Trans Sulawesi Highway (also known as Jalan Poros Sulawesi) heading towards the north. Continue on this road for approximately 300 kilometers until you reach the junction near Parepare. Take the exit towards Toraja and follow the signs to Jakarta. Once you arrive in Jakarta, navigate to Merdeka Square in the Gambir district. You can use a GPS or a navigation app to guide you to Jalan Lapangan Monas, where Monas is located. Be prepared for potential toll fees along the way, which can cost around IDR 30,000 to IDR 60,000 depending on the route.

• Public Transportation - Flight

  From Makassar, book a flight to Soekarno-Hatta International Airport in Jakarta. The flight takes about 2 hours. Upon arrival at the airport, take a taxi or a ride-hailing service (like Grab) to Merdeka Square in the Gambir district.   For budget travelers, you can take a bus from Makassar to Jakarta. Buses such as Damri and other intercity services operate from the Terminal Malengkeri in Makassar.
