Getting There

• Car

  If you're driving, start your journey from the capital city of Southeast Sulawesi, Kendari. Head northwest on Jalan Edi Sabara, then take the Trans Sulawesi highway (Jalan Poros Sulawesi) towards Tana Toraja Regency. Follow the highway for approximately 300 kilometers. Once you reach the town of Makassar, continue on the highway for another 100 kilometers until you reach the area of Bau, Bonggakaradeng. Lembah Ollon is located a few kilometers from here. Ensure your vehicle is in good condition, as some roads may be uneven.

• Public Transportation (Bus)

  To reach Lembah Ollon using public transportation, take a bus from Kendari to Makassar. The journey may take up to 10 hours, and buses operate throughout the day. Once in Makassar, you will need to catch another bus to Tana Toraja. Look for buses heading to Rantepao, which is the main town in Tana Toraja. The bus ride will take about 8-10 hours. When you arrive in Rantepao, you can hire a local taxi or use a motorcycle taxi (ojek) to take you to Lembah Ollon, which is approximately a 30-minute ride. Be prepared for costs: bus fares from Kendari to Makassar range from IDR 150,000 to IDR 250,000, and from Makassar to Rantepao, fares range from IDR 200,000 to IDR 300,000.

• Motorcycle

  For the more adventurous traveler, renting a motorcycle in Makassar is an option. Navigate from Makassar to Tana Toraja by following the same route as cars. The total distance is about 400 kilometers, and it might take around 8-10 hours, depending on your riding speed and the road conditions. Once you reach Rantepao, continue towards Bau, Bonggakaradeng, and follow local signs to Lembah Ollon. Ensure you wear a helmet and have a valid driver's license. Renting a motorcycle typically costs around IDR 100,000 to IDR 200,000 per day.
