Car Rental
If you're traveling by car, start from Makassar, the capital of South Sulawesi. Drive south on the Trans Sulawesi highway (Route 1) for approximately 150 km, which will take around 3-4 hours depending on traffic. Follow the signs towards Bantaeng. Once you reach Bantaeng, look for signs directing you to Bissappu. The final stretch will take you through the village of Bonto Salluang. The last few kilometers will be on a smaller road leading directly to Air Terjun Bissappu. Ensure your vehicle has enough fuel, as there are limited gas stations along the way.
Public Transportation
For those using public transport, take a bus from Makassar to Bantaeng. The bus terminal in Makassar is called Terminal Malengkeri. Buses to Bantaeng run frequently throughout the day and the journey takes about 4-5 hours. Once in Bantaeng, you can hire a local angkot (minibus) or a motorcycle taxi (ojek) to reach Bissappu. The ride from Bantaeng to Air Terjun Bissappu is approximately 30 minutes. Make sure to confirm the fare before beginning your journey, as it can vary.
Walking
After arriving at the parking area near Air Terjun Bissappu, prepare for a short hike. There is a well-marked trail leading to the waterfall, which takes about 15-20 minutes on foot. Wear comfortable shoes and be cautious, as the path can be slippery. Enjoy the scenic beauty along the way!
