If you are traveling by car, start your journey from the city of Bandung. Get onto the Puncak Pass road (Jl. Raya Puncak) and head towards Cianjur. Follow the road signs to Cianjur, approximately a 2-hour drive. Once in Cianjur, continue to Cimacan and look for the signs leading to Jl. Kebun Raya Cibodas. The entrance to Mount Gede Pangrango National Park is located at the end of this road. Parking is available at the entrance, but be prepared for a parking fee of approximately IDR 20,000.
Public Transportation
To reach Mount Gede Pangrango National Park by public transportation, take a bus from Bandung to Cianjur. The bus ride will take around 2 to 3 hours depending on traffic. Once you arrive at the Cianjur bus terminal, you will need to take a local angkot (minibus) to Cimacan. The angkot ride will cost about IDR 10,000. Once in Cimacan, ask for directions to Jl. Kebun Raya Cibodas, where the park entrance is located. You might have to walk a short distance if the angkot does not go directly to the entrance.
Taxi or Ride-Hailing Service
If you prefer a more comfortable option, you can use a taxi or a ride-hailing service like Gojek or Grab. From Bandung, simply input 'Mount Gede Pangrango National Park' into the app, and the driver will take you directly to the entrance. The fare may vary but expect to pay around IDR 250,000 to IDR 400,000. This option is convenient if you are traveling in a group.
Bicycle
For the adventurous types, consider cycling from Cianjur to Cimacan. This route is approximately 25 km and can be challenging due to the elevation. Make sure to start early in the morning to avoid the heat. Ensure you have a good map or GPS, and remember to carry water and snacks. After reaching Cimacan, you can ask locals for directions to Jl. Kebun Raya Cibodas, the park entrance.
