Local know-how to help you travel smarter and make the most of every moment.
Car
If you are traveling by car, you can start your journey from Mataram. Head east on Jalan Raya Mataram - Praya, then follow the signs toward Tetebatu. The rice fields are located at FC38+CJ3, Tetebatu, Sikur, East Lombok Regency. The drive takes approximately 1.5 hours. Once you reach Tetebatu, look for signs directing you to the rice fields, which are well-known and easy to find. There is no entrance fee to access the fields.
Public Transportation
To reach the rice fields using public transportation, start by taking a bus from Mataram to Praya. These buses leave frequently and the journey takes about 45 minutes. Once you arrive in Praya, you need to switch to a local minibus or ojek (motorcycle taxi) heading to Tetebatu. The minibus ride will take approximately 30-45 minutes, depending on traffic. Inform the driver that you want to go to the rice fields in Tetebatu, as they are a popular destination. Again, there is no entrance fee once you arrive.
Ojek (Motorcycle Taxi)
If you're already in the Tetebatu area, you can hire an ojek from your accommodation or nearby locations. This is a quick and efficient way to navigate to the rice fields. The cost for a ride is typically around 20,000 to 50,000 IDR, depending on your starting point and negotiation with the driver. The ride itself usually takes around 10-15 minutes. Remember to confirm the price before starting your journey.
