Getting There

• Public Bus

  From Yogyakarta city center, head to the Giwangan Bus Station. You can take a local bus (known as 'angkot') or a taxi to reach the station. At Giwangan, find the bus that goes to Wonosari. Once on the bus, inform the driver you wish to get off at Patuk. The bus ride will take approximately 1.5 hours. After getting off at Patuk, you will need to take a local motorcycle taxi (ojek) to Gunung Nglanggeran, which is about a 15-minute ride. The ojek will take you directly to the entrance of Gunung Nglanggeran.

• Motorcycle Taxi (Ojek)

  If you prefer a quicker option, you can use a ride-hailing app like Gojek or Grab. Open the app and set your destination to Gunung Nglanggeran. You can be picked up from your hotel or any location within Yogyakarta. The ride will take around 1.5 to 2 hours, depending on traffic. Ensure you confirm the driver knows the exact location of Gunung Nglanggeran.

• Bicycle

  For the adventurous, consider renting a bicycle in Yogyakarta. Head southeast towards Jalan Magelang, then follow the signs directing you to Gunung Kidul. The route is approximately 25 km and will take around 2-3 hours depending on your cycling speed and stops. Make sure you have a map or GPS for directions. Once you reach the Patuk area, look for signs to Gunung Nglanggeran. The last part of the journey will be uphill, so be prepared for a challenging ride.
