If you are starting from the Iowa State University campus, head north on Lincoln Way. Continue walking straight for about 0.5 miles until you reach the intersection with Ash Avenue. Turn left onto Ash Avenue and continue walking for about 0.2 miles. You will see Lake LaVerne on your right. The lake is located near the central part of the campus, surrounded by beautiful landscaping.

For those starting from downtown Ames, begin your ride on Main Street heading east. Continue to the intersection with 5th Street and turn left. After about 0.3 miles, turn right onto Lincoln Way. Follow Lincoln Way straight for about 1 mile until you reach Ash Avenue. Turn left onto Ash Avenue, and Lake LaVerne will be on your right after a short distance.
