From Ankeny, head to the nearest bus stop and catch the DART (Des Moines Area Regional Transit) Route 1 towards Des Moines. Make sure to check the schedule for the next bus time. Stay on the bus for approximately 25-30 minutes. Once you arrive at the 'Locust St & 9th St' stop, get off and walk east on Locust St towards E Grand Ave. Turn left on E Grand Ave and continue walking for about 5 minutes. The Iowa State Capitol will be on your right at 1007 E Grand Ave.

If you prefer cycling, start by heading south on Ankeny Blvd. Follow Ankeny Blvd until you reach the intersection with E 1st St. Turn left onto E 1st St and continue until you reach the intersection with NE 14th St. Here, take a right and continue straight until you reach E Grand Ave in Des Moines. Turn left on E Grand Ave and bike for about 2 miles. The Iowa State Capitol will be on your right at 1007 E Grand Ave.

Follow this road until you reach the intersection with NE 36th St. Turn left and follow NE 36th St until you reach E Grand Ave. Turn right onto E Grand Ave and walk for about 4 miles.
