To reach Palisades-Kepler State Park from Backbone State Park by car, start by exiting Backbone State Park and head south on IA-13 S. Follow IA-13 S for approximately 24 miles until you reach the intersection with US-30 E. Merge onto US-30 E and continue for about 5 miles. Take the exit toward Mount Vernon and merge onto 1st St NW, which will take you into Mount Vernon. Continue on 1st St NW until you reach Kepler Dr, then turn right. Follow Kepler Dr for about 1 mile, and you will find Palisades-Kepler State Park at 700 Kepler Dr, Mt Vernon, IA 52314. There are no tolls or additional costs for this route.
