    If you are starting from downtown Des Moines, head to the nearest bus stop. Take the DART bus route 3 or 6. Both routes will take you towards the River Bend area. For route 3, board the bus at the stop located at 4th St & Walnut St. For route 6, you can board at 5th St & Walnut St. Stay on the bus until you reach the stop at E 14th St & University Ave. This will take approximately 15-20 minutes. Once you get off the bus, walk north on E 14th St until you reach the intersection with Goode St. Turn left onto Goode St and continue walking until you reach the Bates Park Historic District located at 301-399 Goode St, which should take around 10 minutes.

    If you are staying in a nearby area, such as the East Village, you can walk to Bates Park Historic District. Start by heading west on E Grand Ave towards the Des Moines River. Cross the river using the pedestrian bridge. Once you cross, continue straight onto E 14th St. Walk north on E 14th St until you reach Goode St. Turn left onto Goode St, and you will find the Bates Park Historic District at 301-399 Goode St. This route will take approximately 30-40 minutes depending on your pace.

    If you prefer to bike, you can rent a bike from a nearby bike share station. Start from downtown Des Moines and head towards the East Village. Follow the bike lanes along E Grand Ave to reach the Des Moines River. Cross the river using the bike-friendly pedestrian bridge. Continue north along the riverfront path until you reach E 14th St. Turn left and bike up E 14th St until you reach Goode St. Turn left again, and you will arrive at the Bates Park Historic District. The biking route should take about 15-20 minutes.
