Getting There

• Car

  If you're driving to Ice Cave Hill Park, start by heading towards Decorah, Iowa. From the center of Decorah, take West Water Street (Highway 9) heading west. After approximately 1 mile, turn left onto Ice Cave Road. Follow Ice Cave Road for about 1.5 miles until you reach the park entrance at 2559-2539 Ice Cave Rd. There is no admission fee for the park, but ensure you have some cash for parking if you choose to park elsewhere.

• Public Transportation

  If you're using public transportation, take the local bus service that operates in the Decorah area. Check the schedule online or at the local transit station for routes that go towards downtown Decorah. Once in downtown, you may need to take a taxi or rideshare service, as public transport may not directly reach Ice Cave Hill Park. Ensure to book a taxi in advance if needed. The approximate fare from downtown Decorah to the park is around $10-15.

• Bicycle

  For those who prefer cycling, Decorah has bike-friendly routes. Start at the Decorah Fish Hatchery and follow the bike path along the river until you reach the junction with Ice Cave Road. From there, continue on Ice Cave Road for about 1.5 miles to reach the park entrance. Make sure to wear a helmet and bring plenty of water, as the ride can be strenuous.

• Walking

  If you're staying nearby, you can walk to Ice Cave Hill Park. From downtown Decorah, head west on Water Street and take a left onto Ice Cave Road. The park is about a 2-mile walk from downtown. It’s a pleasant walk with scenic views, but be prepared for some changes in elevation as you approach the park.
