Car
If you are traveling by car, start by heading to the nearest major city, Iowa City. From downtown Iowa City, take US-6 E (also known as University Avenue) until you reach the intersection with I-80. Merge onto I-80 W and continue for about 10 miles. Take exit 246 for US-218 N toward Waterloo. Continue on US-218 N for about 6 miles before taking exit 1B for I-80 E. Keep right at the fork, follow signs for Coralville. Continue on Prairie Du Chien Rd NE for about 3 miles, and you will reach Devonian Fossil Gorge at 2850 Prairie Du Chien Rd NE, Iowa City, IA 52240. There is no parking fee at the site.
Public Transportation
To reach Devonian Fossil Gorge using public transportation, you can take a bus operated by the Iowa City Transit. Begin by boarding any bus that goes to the Iowa City Downtown Terminal. From there, transfer to the Coralville Transit or Johnson County SEATS that heads toward Coralville, ensuring you get off at the closest stop to Prairie Du Chien Rd NE. After disembarking, it is about a 15-minute walk (0.7 miles) to the Devonian Fossil Gorge. Check the transit schedule for exact times and routes as they may vary.
Bicycle
