    The closest bus stop is a 6-minute walk from the park at E 14th Street and Thompson Avenue. From downtown Des Moines, take the Des Moines Area Regional Transit (DART) bus Route 5 towards the Iowa State Fairgrounds. A single ride fare is $1.75.

  • Walking

    From the Iowa State Fairgrounds, head west on E 30th St toward E University Ave. Turn left onto E University Ave, then turn left onto Thompson Ave. Union Park will be on your left. The walk is approximately 1 mile and should take about 20 minutes.

  • Driving

    From downtown Des Moines, take I-235 N to E 14th St. Take exit 9 from I-235 N. Continue on E 14th St. Drive to Thompson Ave. There are two parking lots available near the playgrounds. Parking is free.
