    From the center of Dohuk, begin walking towards دوران دهوك (Dohuk Circle), the main square. From the square, walk along شارع 21 (21st Street) heading north. Continue until you reach the intersection with Sendore Way Road. Turn left onto Sendore Way Road. Continue straight for about 1.5 km. You will see signs for كهف جارستين; the entrance will be on your right. There are no costs associated with walking.

The name 'Jarsteen' comes from the Kurdish words 'Chwar' meaning four, and 'steen' meaning column, referring to the four columns inside the cave. The cave is considered one of the oldest human settlements, dating back to 12,000 years BC. In 2023, the Department of Antiquities in Duhok announced the start of cleaning and maintenance work on the archaeological site of Garstin, which dates back thousands of years BC. The cave consists of a temple, open-air temples, water channels associated with religious rites, and places for manufacturing sacred beverages. The cave was recently renovated by the Department of Archeology in Duhok, with support from UNESCO and the European Union and is now open to tourists. كهف جارستين is more than just an archaeological site; it's a living memory etched in stone, reflecting centuries of faith, community, and fundamental harmony.
