    To reach Shaqlawa from Erbil, head to the main bus station near the Citadel. Look for buses or shared taxis heading to Shaqlawa. The fare ranges from 1,000 to 2,000 Iraqi Dinar (approximately $0.70 to $1.40 USD). The journey takes about 45 minutes to 1 hour, depending on traffic, and drops you off in the center of Shaqlawa.

    Taxis are readily available from anywhere in Erbil to Shaqlawa. Negotiate the fare beforehand; it should be around 15,000 to 20,000 Iraqi Dinar (approximately $10 to $14 USD). The taxi ride takes approximately 30 to 45 minutes, depending on traffic conditions.

  • Driving

    From Erbil city center, drive north on Salahaddin Road (Erbil-Shaqlawa Road). Continue for about 20 kilometers until a roundabout, take the second exit to stay on Salahaddin Road. After approximately 8 kilometers, signs for Shaqlawa will appear. Turn right and continue for another 5 kilometers to reach Shaqlawa. Parking is available in the town, but it can be limited during peak tourist season.
