It is now named after Sami Abdulrahman, KRG's former deputy premier who was killed in a 2004 suicide bombing. Today, Peshmarga Park welcomes thousands of visitors daily and is considered one of the biggest parks in the Middle East.

Walking
If you are starting from the Erbil Citadel, head east on Qasr Shirin Street until you reach the intersection with 40m Street. Turn left onto 40m Street and continue straight for about 1.5 kilometers. You will pass several shops and cafes. When you reach the roundabout, take the second exit onto Azadi Street. Continue straight for another 800 meters, and you will find Peshmarga Park on your right side.
