Rathmines Library, located on Lower Rathmines Road in Dublin 6, has been a cornerstone of the community since its opening on October 24, 1913. Designed by Frederick Hicks of Batchelor and Hicks, the library stands as a fine example of neo-Georgian architecture, intended to complement the Rathmines Town Hall. The red-brick building, funded in part by a grant from Andrew Carnegie, reflects a commitment to public education and enrichment. Inside, visitors are greeted by a bright and welcoming atmosphere. A notable feature is the stained-glass window designed by William Morris, depicting an allegory of literature. The library's interior originally included a newspaper reading room, a lending library, and a reference room, catering to a wide range of interests. A teak staircase leads to the upper floors, connecting the various sections of the library.
