Walking

From Easkey village, a scenic walk along the Easkey River leads directly to the castle. The 2km route starts in the village center and follows the riverbank towards Easkey pier, where the castle is located. This is a lovely walk that brings you towards the stunning Atlantic Ocean. Right beside Easkey pier, you can admire the castle. Walk along the coastal route and watch the many surfers tackle those Atlantic waves.

Public Transport

Bus Éireann route 458 stops in Easkey. From the bus stop, it's a short walk to the castle. Bus Éireann services in Sligo town cost as little as €1.50 with a TFI Leap Card. Without a Leap Card, a bus ticket from Sligo to Easkey costs €6-€10.

Taxi

Taxis are available in Sligo and can take you directly to Easkey Castle. A taxi from Sligo to Easkey costs approximately €60-€75 and takes about 33 minutes. There is no additional fee for hiring a taxi from a taxi rank.

Though partially ruined, the castle exudes a formidable presence, inviting visitors to explore its ancient stones and imagine life in medieval Ireland. The uppermost level, known as the 'Sailor's Bed,' offers panoramic views of the coastline, making it a popular spot for photographers and sightseers.Easkey Castle is more than just a historical site; it's a place where the past comes alive.
