The walk takes you through residential areas before arriving at the park's entrance on Oak Park Road. The entrance is marked by a triumphal arch. The walk is relatively flat and should take around 40 minutes.

From Carlow Bus Station or Carlow Train Station, take Bus CW1 towards Rathnapish. The bus will stop close to Oak Park on Oak Park Road. Check local bus schedules for the most up-to-date timings. A single fare will cost approximately €2-€4.

From Dublin/Waterford take exit 4 on M9 motorway. Follow signs for Carlow taking the first right after Toughers Restaurant. Take a left at the next junction. Access also possible off Cannery Road close to the Athy Road junction in Carlow Town. Parking is free. Parking is available on-site.
