From Galway city center, take Bus Éireann route 402 towards Merlin Park. The bus departs from Renmore Barracks and stops at Merlin Park Hospital, a short walk from the woods' entrance. The journey takes approximately 8 minutes. A single fare costs between €3 and €6.

Walking
From Eyre Square in Galway City, head northeast on Shop Street, continuing onto Eglinton Street. Turn left onto Doughiska Road and walk for approximately 30 minutes to reach the entrance of Merlin Park Woods. Note that this is a significant walk.

From Galway City, follow signs for the N6 towards Dublin. Take the exit for the N59 towards Westport and continue onto the R338. After approximately 3km, turn left onto Doughiska Road. The entrance to Merlin Park Woods will be on your right. Free parking is available at the park entrance.
