Getting There

• Car

  If you're driving, start by heading towards Kilkenny city center. Follow the signs for the city and drive towards the main street, High Street. From High Street, turn onto John Street, and continue straight until you reach the intersection with Sráid Na Mainistreach. Turn left onto Sráid Na Mainistreach, and you will find Black Freren Gate at 12 Sráid Na Mainistreach, right next to the Gardens area. Look for parking options nearby, as street parking can be limited.

• Public Transportation

  If you're using public transportation, take a bus that services Kilkenny city. Depending on your starting location, you may need to transfer buses at the main bus station. Once in Kilkenny, disembark at the nearest stop to High Street. From there, walk towards John Street, turn left, and continue straight until you reach Sráid Na Mainistreach. Black Freren Gate will be located on your left at 12 Sráid Na Mainistreach. Be prepared for a short walk of about 10-15 minutes from the bus stop.

• Walking

  If you're already in Kilkenny city and prefer to walk, head towards High Street, which is the main thoroughfare. Walk along High Street until you reach John Street. Turn left onto John Street and continue until you reach Sráid Na Mainistreach. Turn left again, and you will see Black Freren Gate at 12 Sráid Na Mainistreach. This walk should take approximately 15-20 minutes depending on your starting point.
