Car
From Westport, head southwest on the N59 road towards Mulranny. Continue on the N59 for approximately 14 kilometers until you reach the junction with the N847. Turn left onto the N847 and follow the signs towards Mulranny. After about 8 kilometers, you will arrive at Mulranny village. Once in the village, follow the signs towards the Mulranny Causeway which is located at N55, Illanoona. Parking is available near the causeway.
Public Transportation
From Westport, take a bus operated by Bus Éireann (Route 23) to Mulranny. The journey takes approximately 30 minutes. Make sure to check the bus schedule in advance, as services can be limited. Once you arrive in Mulranny, you can walk to the Mulranny Causeway located at N55, Illanoona, which is about a 15-minute walk from the village center. Follow the coastal path or the road signs directing you towards the causeway.
Bicycle
If you prefer cycling, you can rent a bicycle in Westport and take the N59 towards Mulranny. The route is scenic and is approximately 14 kilometers. Once you reach Mulranny, follow the signs to the Mulranny Causeway located at N55, Illanoona. There are designated bike lanes on certain parts of the road. Ensure you wear a helmet and follow cycling safety regulations.
