Car
If you are driving from Castlebar, take the N60 road towards Ballaghaderreen. Continue on the N60 for about 12 kilometers until you reach the junction for the R310 road towards Rathfran. Turn left onto the R310 and follow the road for approximately 4 kilometers. You will see signs for Rathfran Abbey. The abbey is located just off the R310; you can park nearby.
Public Transportation
To visit Rathfran Abbey using public transportation, first take a bus from Castlebar to Ballaghaderreen. Bus services are provided by Bus Éireann, and you can check their schedule online. From Ballaghaderreen, you will need to take a local taxi to Rathfran Abbey, as direct public transport options are limited. The taxi ride will take about 15 minutes and should cost around €15-€20.
Walking
If you are already in Rathfran village, you can walk to Rathfran Abbey. From the village center, head southwest on the R310 road for about 1.5 kilometers. The abbey will be on your right-hand side. The walk should take approximately 20-25 minutes.
