Getting There

• Car

  If you're traveling by car, head towards Tipperary town. From Tipperary town, take the R497 road towards Bansha. Continue on the R497 until you reach the junction with the R659. Turn left onto the R659 and follow it for about 5 km. When you reach the village of Gurteen, look for signs pointing to Monaincha Abbey. The abbey is located just outside the village, and there is parking available nearby.

  If you are using public transportation, take a bus from your current location to Tipperary town. Services such as Bus Éireann operate routes to Tipperary. Once in Tipperary town, you can take a local taxi to reach Monaincha Abbey, which is approximately 10 km away. The taxi fare may vary, but expect it to be around €15-€20. Alternatively, check for any local bus services that might operate a route to Gurteen, and from there, it’s a short walk to the abbey.

  If you're feeling particularly energetic, you can walk to Monaincha Abbey from Tipperary town. The distance is about 10 km and will take approximately 2 hours. Head out on the R497 road towards Bansha, then turn onto the R659 towards Gurteen. Enjoy the beautiful Irish countryside along the way.
