Car
If you are traveling by car, start your journey from the town of Wicklow. Head southwest on the R750 road towards the Glenmalure Valley. After approximately 14 km, turn left onto the R756 road. Continue on R756 for another 5 km until you reach the village of Glenmalure. From Glenmalure, follow local signs for Coolalingo Waterfalls. The waterfalls are located near Ballyboy, just a short drive from the village. There is no entry fee for the waterfalls themselves, but be mindful of parking regulations in the area.
Public Transportation
To reach Coolalingo Waterfalls by public transport, take a bus from Dublin to Wicklow Town (Bus Éireann or private operators). Once in Wicklow Town, look for the local bus service that goes to Glenmalure. The bus may not run frequently, so check the timetable in advance. After arriving in Glenmalure, you will need to walk approximately 2 km to reach the waterfalls. Follow the local roads towards Ballyboy, and ask locals for directions if needed. Be prepared for a bit of a trek, as the path may not be well-marked.
Walking from Glenmalure
If you’re already in Glenmalure, you can walk to the waterfalls. From the center of Glenmalure village, head east along the local road towards Ballyboy. The walk is approximately 2 km and will take about 30 minutes. Follow the road signs, and enjoy the scenic views along the way. Ensure you wear comfortable walking shoes as the path can be uneven.
