Getting There

  • Walking

    From Drogheda town centre, head west on West Street towards the River Boyne. Cross the river using the bridge. Once you are across, continue straight onto the R132 road. Follow the R132, which will lead you through the countryside. After approximately 5.5 kilometers, you will reach Slane. As you enter Slane, turn left onto the N51 road. Continue straight for about 1.5 kilometers. You will see signs for Slane Castle on your left. Follow those signs, and you will arrive at Slane Castle Demesne.

    From Drogheda, make your way to the Drogheda Bus Station located on the Dublin Road. Take a bus to Slane, which is typically operated by Bus Éireann. The bus journey takes around 30 minutes. Once you arrive in Slane, disembark at the main bus stop. From there, walk along the main road (N51) towards the castle, which should take about 20 minutes on foot. Look for signs directing you to Slane Castle as you approach.
