Getting There

Walking
If you are starting from Eyre Square, head south on Shop Street until you reach the intersection with the Quay Street. Turn right onto Quay Street and continue straight until you reach the Spanish Arch. From the Spanish Arch, continue walking along the riverbank (River Corrib) until you reach the Salmon Weir. Cross the bridge and follow the road (Merlin Park) straight ahead. After about 10 minutes of walking, you'll see Galway Cathedral on your left at Gaol Road. The Cathedral is easily recognizable by its distinctive dome and beautiful stone façade.

If you are near the Galway City Museum, you can walk to the Cathedral. From the museum, head east towards the river and follow the riverbank. Walk along the river until you reach the Salmon Weir and cross the bridge. After crossing, turn left and walk along the road (Merlin Park) for about 10 minutes. The Cathedral will be on your left side at Gaol Road.
