Walking
Start from Eyre Square, the central hub of Galway. Head southwest on the pedestrian street, Shop Street. Continue straight until you reach Quay Street, and turn left. Follow Quay Street until you reach the Spanish Arch, which is a historic landmark. From the Spanish Arch, continue along the Salthill Promenade path. You will enjoy beautiful views of the Atlantic Ocean. Keep walking along the promenade until you see the entrance to the Mutton Island Causeway on your right. The causeway leads directly out to Mutton Island. It is approximately a 30-minute walk from Eyre Square to the entrance.

From Eyre Square, walk to the nearby bus stop at the Galway Cathedral. Catch the number 401 bus towards Salthill. Ask the driver to let you know when you reach the stop for the Mutton Island Causeway. The bus ride takes about 15 minutes. Once you get off, walk towards the coastline, and you will find the entrance to the causeway leading to Mutton Island.
