Car
If you are traveling by car, start from the town of Newcastle, which is a popular base for exploring the Mourne Mountains. Head south on the A2 (Newcastle Road) towards Newry. After about 10 miles, take a left onto the B180 towards Hilltown. Continue on the B180 until you reach a junction, then take a right onto the B9. Follow this road until you see signs for Moolieve Mountain. There is limited parking available near the base of the mountain.
Public Transportation
To reach Moolieve Mountain using public transport, you can take a bus from Newcastle to Newry. Check the local bus schedules for the latest routes; the bus should take approximately 30 minutes. Once in Newry, you will need to take a taxi or local bus that heads towards Hilltown and request to be dropped off at the nearest point to Moolieve Mountain. Please be aware that the taxi fare can vary, so it’s recommended to confirm the price beforehand.
Walking
From the drop-off point near Hilltown, it is a scenic walk to the base of Moolieve Mountain. Follow the local walking paths and signs. The walk is approximately 2 miles and can take around 30-40 minutes, depending on your pace. Ensure you have suitable walking shoes and a map or GPS device, as the paths can be less marked.
